Yesterday (13th May 20024), OpenAI announced major updates to ChatGPT-4, a new model that can see, hear, and speak like a human. Users can screen share and get real-time feedback from AI. The most exciting part is that ChatGPT-4o will be available for free.
The demos showcased how AI can have realistic conversations, solve math problems, and provide coding guidance. These changes will revolutionize the way we interact with AI and learn new skills.
How it can impact the future of UX, there may be more findings and innovations from the experts when we utilise its new capabilities in our products.
These new features could be used for personalized product recommendations, voice-driven design tools, or AI-powered chatbots with emotional intelligence and the possibilities are endless.
Here are my thoughts on the key highlights for me:
Its ability to see, hear, and speak like a human introduces a new era of AI interaction, making conversations more realistic and instant. We already see so many apps and products that can respond to your voice or scan surroundings and provide an immersive experience. With these enhanced capabilities, many apps can be more personalized and make the experience better. Just imagine completing your interior based on the surroundings without any help or generating new ideas using voice it's like you are brainstorming with a team member.
The AI's capability to detect emotions and respond with empathy will reshape learning and upskilling. This is going to be a huge leap for the upcoming app. More personalization and dynamic interfaces can be created.
Collaboration among AI team members is having a significant impact on industries. They are now able to solve problems together in real time. This may lead to a different future for UX solutions for many apps.
Knowing better prompt writing will no longer be the sole focus, as AI may understand context and constraints. Chat assistance UX will have more advanced and easy-to-use features.
AI-powered screen sharing enables real-time feedback, transforming onboarding, training, and support. UX for such apps can now adopt enhanced features and make it more accessible to the users.
There are many benefits and use cases to use AI in your workflow but there are some drawbacks too, such as it could involve data privacy concerns, user trust in AI-generated content, or potential biases within the model. You need to be aware of these issues so that you can decide where and how to use it.
AI is expanding and enhancing itself day by day, and as a UX designer, we should not / cannot ignore it. It's the right to start your Gen AI journey and learn how you can adapt it in your workflow and where it can be used in your product to give a better user experience.
